General information

Tarnów is a city, located in Eastern Lesser Poland. Its hundreds years of tradition as a private city, then as county city resulted in today’s access to goods other medium cities have and provide.
 
The antique buildings at the Main Square along with Renaissance City Hall bear signs of the Middle Ages. The gothic Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary with its monumental statues and tombstones of Jan Maria Padovano, rich collections in the Regional Museum and a unique the Diocesan Museum, the only in Poland  exhibition about Roma people in Ethnography Museum, the Old Cemetery full of antique gravestones with the city owners’ chapel, historical treasures on Jewish history in Tarnów with Bim and Jewish Cemetery - one of the biggest in the country, tragic memories from World War II and a monument of the first transport to Auschwitz, lovely Strzelecki Park with a mausoleum with general Jozef Bem’s ashes placed on six Corinthian columns  in the middle of a beautiful pond are just some of many must-see wonders in Tarnów.
 

How to reach Tarnów?

 
By car - Either from Kraków or Rzeszów its best to take A4 speedway and from Warsaw, through Kielce state road 73.
 
By plane - the closest airports are Kraków Balice around 90 km and Rzeszów Jasionka, around 90km.
 
By train - get out on Tarnów Główny - the Main Train station in Tarnów. 
 
By bus - private companies such as Voyager and FlixBus will get you to Tarnów.
 

How much time is needed to see Tarnów?

 
To visit the whole city with museums, you’ll need 3 days and if you want to visit the surrounding attractions another 3 days.

How to move about the city?

 
Most monuments is in a walking distance from each other. However, if you don’t fancy walking, either take a cab or use the public transport. An interesting solution would be to use city bikes. In order to begin, you must pay a fee of 10 PLN. Details at: https://rower.tarnow.pl/
