King Łokietek’s nook

The nook is a lovely place, located near a fragment of city walls from Wałowa street. Here an almost 4 meters high statue of king Łokietek stands proudly, with the king holding a sword in one hand and the foundation charter of Tarnów in the other.

 

Tarnów still remembers king Łokietek, for it was him, who signed the foundation charter on the 7th of March, 1330. Since then, the stronghold, located in the knighthood village the Grand Tarnów, which belonged to comes Spicymir, could be developed due to regulations and privileges coming from founding the city basing on Magdeburg Law. 

 

Benches place in Łokietek nook are the favourite spot of tourists and Tarnów’s youth. It is said, that to gain luck in further exploration of the city, you should hold the king’s foot :)
