Seklerska Gate

Seklerska Gate

Its a gift from the Hungarians to the city of Tarnów, for the 170th anniversary of Battle of Ostrołęka - one of many battles of the November Rising, where general Bem fought.

Seklers are people, living on land in Karpaty mountains, furthest to the East, which was given to Hungarian Kingdom. The gate is a symbol of the warm hospitality of Seklers, which wouldnt let the gate to be closed. Now it stays open before happy and miserable, just like Seklers’ hearts. That was the sign saying: Peace to those, who enter, blessings to those, who leave” tries to convey.

The second Seklerska Gate is in Nowy Sącz.
