Wierzchosławice - the forest and the Wincenty Witos Museum

Wierzchosławice - the forest and Wincenty Witos’ museum

A few kilometres to the West from Tarnów, is Wierzchosławice village, which has old traditions and customs. Currently, it’s mostly remembered by the prime minister of the interwar period - Wincenty Witos. In his house and outhouses, a museum was created and near his grave in Wierzchosławice cemetery, multiple state celebrations are led.

The forest in Wirzchosławice is a place for relaxation and escape from Tarnów’s busy life. During free days, all paths in the forest are full of wanderers, rollerbladers and bikers. In the forest breeding lakes of famous Wierzchosławice’s carp are the nesting grounds for many bird species. The educational path is the source of knowledge on different kinds of trees, birds and natural forest protection.

The Wincenty Witos Museum evokes the memory of an extraordinary man who was the prime minister of the Polish government three times in the interwar period.
