Wałowa Street

Wałowa street is a broad walk that surrounds the Main Square from the North. The old tenement houses there, each tell a story of their owner. Walking down Wałowa street, starting from Krakowska street, we can notice Łokietek’s nook, poets’ bench, Mirror Hall, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Half tower, statue of Roman Brandstetter (smoking his pipe, while leaning on the wall of the building, where he lived), statue of general Bem and a mural of panorama of Siedmiogród, further on reaching Lwowska street, going East. 

 

The popular Wałowa street was marked out along city embankments, of which remains remind us of the defensive character of the city.  Between the years 1911 and 1942  a tram line used to be present there, however it was destroyed during the german occupation. Near the number 12 we can seat on the tram stop, which is no longer there.
